Steve Lanzo of Verona, NJ Death-Obituary: It is with heavy hearts that we remember Steve Lanzo of Verona, a devoted coach, respected leader, and cherished member of the hockey community whose passing has left a profound sense of loss among family, friends, and generations of players.

Steve’s connection to the game of hockey ran deep. A proud alumnus of Montclair High School, he carried his passion for the sport into a lifetime of service. As a longtime coach and board member of the Montclair Hockey Club, Steve dedicated countless hours to mentoring young athletes, shaping not only their skills on the ice but also their character off it. His influence spanned decades, from coaching teams in the early 2000s to guiding his son Blake’s 2009 teams from Mites through Bantams.

Beyond the club level, Steve’s leadership extended to Montclair State University, where he served as head coach of the men’s hockey team. His commitment to the sport and to the development of players at every level left a lasting legacy that continues to resonate throughout the community.

Those who knew Steve remember him as more than a coach—he was a mentor, a role model, and a friend.
